Obwohl nahezu alle bisher gefundenen Mutationen somatisch sind (d.h. sie gehen von einer einzelnen, irgendwann im Laufe des Lebens mutierten Körperzelle aus und betreffen nicht den gesamten Körper), und dadurch eigentlich nicht vererbbar sind, scheinen MCAD dennoch mit grosser Wahrscheinlichkeit an die nächste Generation weiter gegeben zu werden. Auf welche Weise dies geschieht (Keimbahn? epigenetisch?), ist noch nicht geklärt. |
